Masayoshi Fujita shares second piece from compilation Music for kō

4.3  2022

Japanese composer, vibraphonist and percussionist Masayoshi Fujita shares new track Led by a Blue Bird into the Mountain — the second piece from the upcoming Music for kō compilation, out April 1.

Inspired by Japanese incense rituals, this release explores the link between the sense of smell and sound as originally commissioned by Folie À Plusieurs in partnership with the Noguchi Museum in New York. Fujita's contribution acts as an extension of his 2021 album Bird Ambience, painting the impression of a creature leading the listener along their journey.

"I had the image of a blue bird like a parrot from the beginning. Maybe it was inspired by the colour of the incense sticks I received for this project. The blue bird appears in my latest album Bird Ambience too, and there is a connection between this song and that album”.

The Music for kō listening object, which also features Rival Consoles, Hatis Noit and Daniel Thorne, arrives on April 1.
