Erased Tapes goes BBC Proms

4.8  2015

A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Nils Frahm perform the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall

Introduced by the prolific Mary Anne Hobbs who’s interest in these artists was piqued when she noticed the seismic effect their music had whenever she played it on her 6Music weekend breakfast show. A Winged Victory For The Sullen were accompanied by their string trio, London Brass and three dancers from Wayne Mcgregor’s Random Dance company for an ethereal performance. Nils Frahm then joined in on the grand piano and went on to perform solo surrounded by his familiar setup of synthesisers, electric piano, upright and toilet brushes.

“It’s slowly starting to dawn on me that we’ll always remember this night as a very special moment in our little history. Big thanks to Mary and the BBC Radio 3 and 6 Music team for their support throughout the years. What impressed me most was the unshakable dedication of our fans and the fact that even a tube strike couldn’t keep them from sharing this moment with us. None of this would have been possibly without you." – Robert Raths, Erased Tapes label founder
