Peter Broderick’s Arthur’s Opinion reappears
Originally released in 2010 but has subsequently become “lost media”, Arthur’s Opinion is one of Peter Broderick’s most beloved songs, with fans messaging him to ask about it once it was taken down a few years ago.
“Arthur’s Opinion is an odd little track, really. At the time I made it, around 2010, I was in the habit of making field recordings of various random pianos I encountered on the road. I think the one in this song was in the backstage corridor of a concert hall somewhere, and the venue crew can be heard shuffling around at one point in the song. I later added violin and then chopped up the piano for the end part with vocals. When I showed the track to my best friend at the time, the one and only Nils Frahm, he got inspired to add some clickity-clock-electro-percussion and backing vocals. I’ve not heard Nils sing many times, so this is a rare treat!” — Peter Broderick
On January 30, Peter Broderick will take the stage in Utrecht with a string orchestra as part of the festival Night of the Violin, performing songs from his catalogue, new works and Irish traditional folk songs.
