Finn. is the alias of German singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and conceptualist Patrick Zimmer. Born in 1977 he resides in Hamburg.
After two electronica-laden lo-fi releases, The Best Low-Priced Heartbreakers You Can Own forms a cohesive collection of haunting and mesmerizing songs as a result from his consequential musical progression.
With this album Zimmer prescribed himself a concept album which he lived, recorded and produced over the course of seven months in the catacombs of an old 14th century church underneath the streets of St. Pauli, Hamburg. A record free of any artificial elements, whose place has been taken by an orchestra of pompous cymbals, strings, fanfares and kettledrums.
Based on the idea of a theatrical play, the underlying classical drama is divided into five acts, which define the constellation of the songs and the structure of the record. However its content resembles more closely the original form: the Greek tragedy. “I will leave this harbour“, he sings after he symbolically let his hero drive against the Olympus, and adds: “…but I will carry on.“
Finn. has supported José González in Europe as well as Stephan Eicher at two sold out shows at the Olympia in Paris. He performed at Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavík, followed by an extensive UK tour, supporting Ólafur Arnalds at unique venues including Union Chapel London in 2008.
