Rick Rubin, Cillian Murphy, Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds and other Erased Tapes artists and friends help Allred & Broderick find The Ways.

Peter Broderick returns with
Allred & Broderick – a duo project between him and his musical partner David Allred – and receives a surprise birthday gift to help carry their message of love, friendship and hope.
The Ways was directed by label founder Robert Raths who travelled around the world to visit and film many of the people that brought them together after he commissioned London-based artist Peter Liversidge to paint and courier cardboard signs carrying the song lyrics to everyone he wasn’t able to meet in time.
The video features many familiar faces from the Erased Tapes cosmos including Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, Adam Wiltzie and Dustin O’Halloran, Greg Haines, Rival Consoles, members of Efterklang and Balmorhea, Peter’s dad Steven and sister Heather Woods Broderick, Brigid Mae Power, producer Rick Rubin, actor Cillian Murphy, BBC’s Mary Anne Hobbs plus many others to help spread the duo’s message of friendship and hope. In the director’s own words:
"To me this song carries such a powerful and universally speaking message of hope, love and friendship, of kindness and humanity. The fact that it's an acapella piece of just two voices singing harmonies makes it feel so communal, like gospel. It lets you fully focus on David's lyrics for a song that couldn't be more relevant to the turbulent times we live in. It's very rare that you come across a song able to say so much with such little words.
When I realised that Peter's birthday falls on the inauguration of the new president elect, I felt this urge to start this video project and involve as many friends as possible to help spread this positive message. So I commissioned our artist friend Peter Liversidge to hand-paint 35-40 cardboard signs – one for each line of the lyrics – to send out to as many people from all around the world. I made a list of people through which we all connected somehow or friends of the label who I thought could help spread the word and asked them to hold up their sign in whichever place they are right now and have it filmed. Some of them I visited and filmed myself on recent travels to Tokyo, Berlin and Los Angeles. All I can hope for is that this video helps amplify the song's message and that we should help each other more. Happy birthday, Peter!" – Robert Raths
By bringing together our friends from around the world for a song that so eloquently speaks of the troubles of today, particularly on a day such as this, we stand in solidarity and say “We’re all the same”.

Daniel Brandt joins the Erased Tapes family with solo debut album 'Eternal Something' picture
Daniel Brandt, co-founder of Germany’s electroacoustic ensemble Brandt Brauer Frick, joins the Erased Tapes family with his solo debut album Eternal Something released worldwide on March 24th 2017.
What started off as a more simplistic idea soon evolved into something a lot more complex as the London and Berlin based music producer travelled across the world, experimenting with various other artists and different instruments. From his father’s cabin based in the German countryside with access to nothing but cymbals, to being surrounded by guitars in Joshua Tree, his unexpected journey soon progressed into what became his first solo album.
Daniel played nearly all instruments himself with the only exception being fellow musicians Florian Juncker on trombone, Manu Delago on hang drum and Andreas Voss on cello. Using his Berlin studio as his main base for recording, Brandt created an album that encapsulates the idea that despite setting out with a particular creative vision, external influences and environments will always shift the process, and create an Eternal Something.
Words from Daniel, January 2017:
“The initial idea was to make a cymbal album. I wanted to surround myself with all types of cymbals. I locked myself into my father’s cabin in the woods for three days. That was the moment I realised it was not possible for me to make an album just with cymbals because other ideas and instruments imposed themselves on me. I had a clear sense of what I wanted to do now. The intention was to let the songs evolve by themselves and not edit too much, keep it raw and have an explosion-like energy to them. I wanted to create a different sound, songs that build up like dance tunes but don't feel like club music at all. Travelling around in California for two months gave me the possibility to deeply get into this concept outside my normal environment. Robert Raths, who served as a great motivator throughout the whole process (I guess he had listened to the record more than I ever had) came up with the perfect order for the songs. This record is about failing to make the original plan happen, but then the discovery of something I couldn't even think of before.”
Prior to being enlisted to create the album artwork, Iranian artist Shaz Madani coincidentally had also planned a trip to Joshua Tree where she documented her own experience of Eternal Something, forming the visual counterpart to the record.

"I started recording "Kale Me" at my home studio while our washing machine was going wild in the bathroom. It sounded like a huge rave break. I instantly set up a microphone, recorded a full cycle and implemented it into the song. The washing machine stopped working right after the recording and never made any sound again. I was pretty lucky." - Daniel Brandt

A Winged Victory For The Sullen announces new album 'Iris' picture
A Winged Victory For The Sullen, the otherworldly collaboration between Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie and Dustin O’Halloran, commence the New Year with their third full-length titled Iris – available worldwide via Erased Tapes on January 13th 2017.
Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie and Dustin O'Halloran first met the director Jalil Lespert after he had discovered A Winged Victory For The Sullen on a music search online. After listening to their music, he immediately knew: "it was the sound of my new film". With an excellent cast of France’s finest actors Romain Duris, Charlotte Le Bon, and the director himself, plus a script filled with tension, sexuality and darkness, they knew there was a lot of musical territory to mine. It was agreed that they wanted to explore more analogue electronique experiments as well as working with a large string ensemble, to create something that felt very modern and still cinematic.
“Despite A Winged Victory For The Sullen being associated with film score type music, trying to survive the process of creating the modern film score is not for people with fragile egos. It requires those who are the most responsive to change. The director and the film presented a new set of challenges, so we decided to stop thinking about cinema as an object, and moved closer to using the film’s images as triggers for experiences. The more we were able to let go, and see the music as something that happens, like a process – not a quality, the more we were able to reach a place that sounded like us. It was as if we were making our first record all over again, except being filtered through another language littered with dead metaphors”, the duo elaborate.
The recording sessions began with their long time sound collaborator Francesco Donadello in the form of some modular synth sessions in Berlin. Dustin and Adam began working from the script in their own studios, and after filming commenced they continued to create music that could be used for first edits of the film – each day getting new scenes that triggered ideas that would become the base of the film score. Over the course of the next few months the two slowly crafted the music with weekly discussion from their studio to the editing room. The final sessions to what is now the score of Iris was recorded with a 40-piece string orchestra at Magyar Radio in Budapest.
Upon label founder Robert Raths' request the over sixty minutes of material were then edited down to a concise album listen at forty-one minutes with a physical release set for January 13, 2017. The digital bonus track edition includes two solo pieces by Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie entitled The Endless Battle Of The Maudlin Ballade Part 2 and The Endless Battle Of The Maudlin Ballade Part 3, as well as tracks by Petite Noir, dOP, DJ Pone and The Shoes which feature in the film. The artwork was created by Berlin based illustrator Stephanie F. Scholz who also created the iconic cover for Nils Frahm's Music for The Motion Picture Victoria.

Peter Broderick announces 'Grunewald' EP

Peter Broderick announces 'Grunewald' EP picture
Not long after the release of Peter Broderick’s seventh solo album ‘Partners’ in August of this year, the composer closes the year with his equally exceptional ‘Grunewald’ recordings, out on December 9th 2016 via Erased Tapes.
Born in just one night inside the four walls of the discrete yet majestic Grunewald Church, situated on the outskirts of Berlin, this five-track EP is an exploration of the alluring partnership between the acoustic space and Broderick's solo performance on piano and violin. Reflecting the grandeur of the room and the natural interaction between the instruments and their surrounding environment, 'Grunewald' pays homage to a very unusual space that's become a haven for an entire generation of contemporary composers.
Words from Peter, October 2016:
“In the few years between 2008 and 2011 or so, the Grunewald Church in Berlin was something of a hotspot for a group of us musicians. It started when Nils scouted it as a location in which to record The Bells . . . and then it seemed like we were in there every month or two for a while, either for recordings or for concerts.
There was a lady living just down the street from the church, and we’d just knock on her door, give her a couple hundred euros, and then she’d hand over the keys to the church! To be given unsupervised access in a space like that is really quite unheard of most of the time… For anyone who likes reverb, the Grunewald is a dream come true. That in combination with the beautiful old Bösendorfer piano made it the perfect place for both recording and performing.
When mixing the recordings that comprise this EP, simply titled Grunewald in homage to that old haven of ours, there were no artificial reverbs or delays used . . . only the natural sound of that epic space. Originally these piano recordings were released as part of a split album on a small Japanese label, and the violin piece was included on a compilation, also Japanese . . . but all these pieces were recorded on the same night, in the same space, and it is with great pleasure that I see them reunited for this release.”

Peter's EU tour commences tomorrow. All dates here

Adam Wiltzie of A Winged Victory announces debut solo soundtrack release 'Salero'

Adam Wiltzie of A Winged Victory announced solo soundtrack release 'Salero' picture
Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie, the creative force behind A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Stars Of The Lid, is to officially release his score for the non-fiction film ‘Salero’ on November 11th.
Having channelled some of the most iconic drift music of our time through A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Stars of the Lid, 2016 has already seen Erased Tapes luminary Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie provide original scores for a number of feature films including Jalil Lespert’s ‘Iris’ and ‘The Yellow Birds’ by Alexandre Moors.
It’s on ‘Salero’ however, that we see Wiltzie weave some of his finest work and deliver an expertly distilled accompaniment to director Mike Plunkett’s sprawling, uncompromising visuals. Set in Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat, the narrative follows the region’s ‘Saleros’ – those who have for generations gathered salt and earned enough to somehow carve out an existence in such a barren landscape. It’s with the discovery of huge Lithium reserves – a mineral used frequently throughout the tech industry – under the scorched earth that acts as a catalyst for exploitation of the environment and its people; holding a microscope to the drastic effect industrialisation has on local culture and tradition.
“I have always said that composing music is infinitely easier when you have beautiful images to be inspired by. It was a pleasure to write a score over this captivating place of endless, glimmering salt before its impending demise. I was fascinated by this mythical space and its ability to define the identities of the people who live in its vicinity, where this vast salt flat itself would be a central character” – Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie
Recording took place in Adam’s Belgium-based studio for the guitars, percussion and small string ensemble tracking. Hungary was chosen for the final large string orchestra recordings at Magyar Radio Studio #22 with the Budapest Art Orchestra.

Following his acclaimed debut Whelm, London-based singer-songwriter and pianist Douglas Dare returns with Aforger on October 14th, with the album's first single 'Doublethink' available to stream now.
In a digital age where memories are mimicked by pixels and identity is as malleable as static, Douglas Dare’s new album Aforger questions the boundaries between reality and fiction. Inspired by recent events and revelations encountered in his life these songs depict Dare at his most vulnerable, whilst simultaneously reflecting our own obsession with technology back at us.
Aforger was mixed at the iconic Abbey Road Studios and produced by long-time collaborator Fabian Prynn.

2016-06-17 Peter Broderick is set to release his new studio album 'Partners' on August 19th

Peter Broderick is set to release his new studio album 'Partners' on August 19th

Peter Broderick is set to release his new studio album 'Partners' on August 19th picture
For close to a decade, Portland’s Peter Broderick has cut his own unpredictable path through the world of contemporary music. So far, his wanderings have led him from solo works into the realms of film, dance and documentary scores, as well as art installations.

Now, Peter takes that unpredictability one step further. For his latest album 'Partners', he experiments with chance, surrendering an entire song’s composition to the roll of dice.

“The inspiration really came when I decided to learn to play John Cage’s In A Landscape on the piano . . . I listened to a recording I had over and over again, five seconds or so at a time, picking out every single note. Then cross referencing what I’d learned with other versions of the piece as well as the original score. Beyond Cage’s music, his life and practice have interested me more and more, after having read about his love for foraging wild foods and using chance operations to compose music, in a sense taking his ‘self’ out of the music.”

Rival Consoles returns with mini-LP 'Night Melody' picture
Night Melody’ is Rival Consoles' new 34-minute, 6-track mini album to be released on Erased Tapes, August 5th – following 2015's acclaimed full-length 'Howl'. Born out of and shaped by long hours working into the night, it’s nocturnal in sound; mysterious in the way that the early hours so often are.

“I found myself in a silent home, with the days getting dark very early. I’ve never before in my life been affected by the lack of light so much. I just remember it always being night time. I would either make music into the night, go out drinking with friends, or go to parties and dance into the early hours, every day, week after week, month after month, until eventually the days became brighter again.”

'Lone' is the first glimpse from the release and is the result of constant adjustments to find a delicate balance of fragility and assurance.

2016-05-31 Woodkid & Nils Frahm collaborate on score for JR's short film 'Ellis' with Robert De Niro

Woodkid & Nils Frahm collaborate on score for JR's short film 'Ellis' with Robert De Niro

Woodkid & Nils Frahm's collaborative score for JR's short film ELLIS starring Robert De Niro is set for release on July 8th with all profits going to the
Sea-Watch initiative.

For the first half of the twentieth century, Ellis Island stood as the gateway to America. For some twelve million people, it was their first encounter with the land they hoped to call home.

Directed by acclaimed French artist JR, ELLIS tells the story of one such migrant. Starring Robert De Niro, the film winds its way through the crumbling hallways of the abandoned Ellis Island hospital complex, now home to JR’s Unframed art installation. Entwined with the narrative is a score composed by Woodkid, performed and co-written by Nils Frahm. The delicate piano motifs of ‘Winter Morning I’ culminate in a crescendo of strings, while the harmonium swells on the B-side are the foundation for De Niro’s narration: an encomium for those who shaped modern America.

There’s perhaps never been a more fitting time for this story, with all the proceeds going to the Sea Watch initiative, a non-profit charity dedicated to the protection and rescue of civilian refugees.

"The music fell in our laps and melted with the images. The film has stuck in my head ever since; it moved my heart and changed my soul" – Nils Frahm

Ben Lukas Boysen becomes Erased Tapes recording artist with new LP 'Spells'

Ben Lukas Boysen releases new album 'Spells' on Erased Tapes picture
Following the world premiere and heavy rotation of 'Golden Times 1' on BBC Radio 6 Music as championed by Mary Anne Hobbs, we're excited to announce the signing of Ben Lukas Boysen with his forthcoming LP 'Spells' due for release on June 10.

'Spells' merges programmed piano pieces with live instruments, combining the controllable technical world and the often unpredictable aspects of live improvisation. In some ways it continues where his underground debut 'Gravity' (re-issued on Erased Tapes, June 10) left off, though a lot of weight is lifted, making room for a lighter and more energetic listen. Friend and fellow Erased Tapes artist Nils Frahm mixed and mastered both albums. Ben is not a master pianist like his dear friend, but his sound collages are so meticulously designed that after hearing the result an impressed Nils declared: "from now on, if anyone asks – this is a real piano"

2016-03-30 A live report of our Piano Day event at The Courtyard Theatre

A live report of our Piano Day event at The Courtyard Theatre

A live report of our Piano Day event at The Courtyard Theatre picture
For Douglas Dare, the piano is a sad instrument. He makes a convincing case; at his fingertips, the keys sing plaintively, exquisitely melancholy. By the time he embarks on a cover of Bjork’s ‘Lionsong’, that peculiar mood has settled over the audience; the room is packed, but thoughts are turned inwards. You can see it in the swaying.
Dare’s is the opening set of London’s Piano Day celebrations, held on March 28th at Shoreditch’s
Courtyard Theatre, opened in the late nineteenth century as a public library. Shortly afterwards, we’re offered another glimpse of what the piano can do. When Michael Price performs some tracks from The Hope of Better Weather, you can hear expectance but also traces of nostalgia. Remembrance of Better Weather would be an equally apt title.
No modern piano concert would be complete without a nod to John Cage. And when it comes, it does so courtesy of Peter Broderick whose performance of In a Landscape has that mesmeric, slow-building quality so peculiar to the instrument. Broderick’s set is also the closest the evening comes to a variety performance; he kicks off with some piano jokes (including one he penned himself), and at one point wanders amid the crowd, singing unaccompanied (the farthest we drift from twinkling keys.)
The evening was a celebration of what the piano can do, and the different directions in which a pianist can lead the instrument (and, of course, vice versa.) So it’s only fitting that proceeds went to the next generation, helping to buy a new piano for South London’s World Heart Beat Academy . Run by Sahana Gero, the charity offers music tuition to some three hundred children, many from challenging backgrounds, and is expanding into a new space in Battersea.
World Heat Beat is place where creativity and social change go hand-in-hand; the students are not only offered an environment in which to create, but gain a valuable (not to mention employable) skill. It’s a place that fosters imagination, much like the library that the Courtyard Theatre once housed: a strange reverberation from the past.
To round the evening off, the three Erased Tapes pianists take once more to the keys. As they played their encore for six hands, you couldn’t help but wonder what new paths the next wave of pianists might embark on. Theirs is an instrument with over three hundred years of history. Long may it continue.

2016-03-28 Happy Piano Day – an open letter from Lubomyr

Happy Piano Day – an open letter from Lubomyr

Happy Piano Day – an open letter from Lubomyr Melnyk picture
It’s Piano Day today, and to mark the occasion, we thought we’d have a chat with Lubomyr Melnyk, resident pioneer of continuous music. We wrote to him with some questions, hoping to get a sense of his relationship to the instrument. What was the first piano piece he remembers hearing? Which composers occupy a special place in his heart? Who or what inspired his unique style; those unbroken reams of notes, and the sustained resonances which hover above them?
The response came as a surprise. Luboymr asked if instead, he could write a tribute to the instrument. Naturally, we agreed. Shortly afterwards we received his crie de coeur which we’re now delighted to share with you. In an age of mass production and mass wastage, it’s above all a plea for care and gratitude:
"I must apologize for not answering the questions. But there’s a reason why I haven’t done that. It’s because on Piano Day, I think we should not forget the actual instrument and not dwell too much on me. After all, it’s the piano’s day today, not mine.
So my thoughts are very deep and full of love for the piano. All pianos; big ones, small ones, great ones, humble ones. All of them are a divine gift to humanity. But people don’t understand that nor are they willing to accept and say thank you to God for this great gift. Instead, people in some countries – like Sweden and Canada – are actually burning pianos and throwing them outside in the garbage dump.
Killing their pianos. It’s horrible. It’s unbelievable. There are so many children all over the world in need of a piano and these people are just throwing them away. Huge 300 kilo instruments that took 250 years to perfect, and a deep, profound knowledge of how to make the steel: the beautiful steel that makes that beautiful sound. Everything is dying, even the knowledge.
Soon no one will know how to make a piano, and all the machinery will have been destroyed. Like the lacquering machines that made the old Hi-Fi. Hundreds of these precious machines destroyed and burned. The greatest piece of human sound technology in all our history - the analogue Hi-Fi lacquering machine – burned up and thrown away, without even thinking.
So it is on Piano Day, I want to remind the world to love every piano as I love them, and to treasure every one forever."

In these images of burned-out machinery, Lubomyr presents a vision of human recklessness. It’s a timely reminder for us to appreciate what we have, and not to squander our accomplishments.
When it comes to the piano, artistry does not lie solely with the pianist, but with the makers too. Building a piano is a complex, multi-staged process; there are rims to be pressed, soundboards to be laid, strings to be tuned, hammers to be fitted and much more besides. It’s a craft to be cherished.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Nils Frahm perform the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall

Introduced by the prolific Mary Anne Hobbs who’s interest in these artists was piqued when she noticed the seismic effect their music had whenever she played it on her 6Music weekend breakfast show. A Winged Victory For The Sullen were accompanied by their string trio, London Brass and three dancers from Wayne Mcgregor’s Random Dance company for an ethereal performance. Nils Frahm then joined in on the grand piano and went on to perform solo surrounded by his familiar setup of synthesisers, electric piano, upright and toilet brushes.

“It’s slowly starting to dawn on me that we’ll always remember this night as a very special moment in our little history. Big thanks to Mary and the BBC Radio 3 and 6 Music team for their support throughout the years. What impressed me most was the unshakable dedication of our fans and the fact that even a tube strike couldn’t keep them from sharing this moment with us. None of this would have been possibly without you." – Robert Raths, Erased Tapes label founder

Nils Frahm curates next Late Night Tales

Nils Frahm curates Late Night Tales picture
We're very proud to announce that our dearest Nils Frahm will curate the next Late Night Tales compilation out September 11 featuring a rework of John Cage's famous "4'33" of silence, Boards Of Canada, Bibio, Colin Stetson, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Four Tet and spoken words by our friend and supporter Cilian Murphy!

And of course Nils did not only compile the songs, he ripped them from vinyl records, mixed, edited, over-dubbed and re-mastered them in his Durton Studio to create a very personal sonic journey throughout music history!

"I can’t tell you how much fun I've had creating this compilation for you but, suffice to say, I hope it will be a nice journey for your mind and heart."

Big thanks go out to Paul at LNT for trusting in our collective vision.

2015-06-22 Masayoshi Fujita signs to Erased Tapes

Masayoshi Fujita signs to Erased Tapes

Masayoshi Fujita signs to Erased Tapes picture
Berlin-based Japanese vibraphone player Masayoshi Fujita, also known under his alias el fog, came to the attention of label founder Robert Raths a few years ago. Not only because the vibraphone is an intriguing instrument, but also the way Masayoshi treats his instrument and draws ethereal and layered sounds, is what truly attracted him to Masayoshi’s work.

Having released more ambient-based/electronic recordings of the vibraphone under el fog, Masa became more interested in the sound of the vibraphone itself. He started to compose acoustic pieces and released the first solo album under his real name, titled ‘Stories’, in early 2013. ‘Apologues’, out September 11, sees Masayoshi for the first time use an array of instruments besides his lead instrument – such as the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, French horn, accordion, piano and snare drum played by friends, but arranged by Masa himself.

In addition to the mallets, Masayoshi often plays the vibraphone with a violin or cello bow, like on ‘Tears of Unicorn’ and ‘Knight and Spirit of Lake’.  He would also place bead strings on the vibraphone bars to create an ambient shimmer that can be heard on songs like ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Swallow Flies High in the May Sky’. The latter was composed to let the clarinet express its characteristics and tell its story, whilst the vibraphone takes a supporting role. “The clarinet sounds very warm and soft and very ‘spring’ to me”, says Masa.

“With this album the main idea was to evoke images, atmospheres, sceneries and stories in the listener, the images that have accumulated in myself. At the same time it was an exploration of the unexplored beauty of the vibraphone, and also a pursuit of the charm of the instrumentation and the music itself. Erased Tapes releases a lot of great stuff and naturally became my favourite label of late. And I thought it would fit well to my music.” – Masayoshi Fujita

2015-05-11 Nils Frahm releases first score for feature film 'Victoria'

Nils Frahm releases first score for feature film 'Victoria'

Nils Frahm has always said that he’s just waiting for something real special when being asked if he would ever score the music for a film. And that’s exactly what German director Sebastian Schipperpresented to him with his one-take feature ‘Victoria’. Filmed in Berlin, Victoria’s plot sees a runaway party girl, who's asked by three friendly men to join them as they hit the town, but their wild night of partying suddenly turns into a bank robbery as the music changes from techno to subdued piano sounds.

For the recording session at Studio P4 in Berlin, Frahm enlisted the help of long-time collaborator and cellist Anne Müller, violist Viktor Orri Árnason and ambient artist Erik K. Skodvin of Deaf Center on guitar.

‘Music for the Motion Picture Victoria’ will be released on Erased Tapes June 15th. The soundtrack opens with an edit of ‘Burn With Me’ by German producer DJ Koze.

‘Victoria’ won the Berlinale film festival prize for Best Cinematography and has also received seven nominations including Best Soundtrack for the Deutscher Filmpreis – Germany’s highest movie award – and will be released in cinemas across Germany on June 11th with plans to release it in other countries, including the UK soon.

'Frahm's soothing electro-orchestral pieces prove especially effective, washing over the throbbing dance beats like a flood of endorphins.’ – Hollywood Reporter

‘Nils Frahm’s score is an equally flexible asset, veering from juddering electronic chaos to dreamy intrusions of piano and cello — a sonic approximation of the alternating noise in the title character’s wrecked head.’ – Variety

2015-04-21 Nils Frahm reveals stage plan of new live setup

Nils Frahm reveals stage plan of new live setup

Nils Frahm reveals stage plan of new live setup picture
Following an already busy start of the year for Berlin-based pianist and composer Nils Frahm with the announcement of an annual Piano Day and the release of the free album Solo, Nils now takes the focus back to his live performance. Continuing in the tradition of his acclaimed 2013 album Spaces, which featured a grand piano, upright piano, synthesisers, electric piano and tape delays, he will now add drum machines, a Mellotron (tape replay keyboard containing pre-recorded self-made sounds), his very own upright called Una Corda and a custom made, electronically-controlled wind organ to his new live set.

With these new instruments Nils will premiere brand new material, which will be developed from show to show on his tour across Europe and which will lay the foundation for his next studio album. The audience can also expect existing pieces being reworked live as Nils makes use of his new setup. So instead of writing and recording his future album locked away in his studio before taking it on tour, Nils decided to do things differently. Having enjoyed the lively process of capturing Spaces over the course of two years, it seemed natural to develop new ideas live on stage, thereby involving the audience in the process of production.

“As most of my better songs have been shaped and crafted in a live set, I wanted to invite my audience to be part of this next big creative step of developing new material on new instruments. My audience, as always, will tell me without speaking which parts need to be shortened, which breaks should be longer, or louder, or or or… The stage will tell me where this next big record should go.”

Bringing all these instruments and prototypes on tour is by any means pretty insane. The chance that everything works all the time is close to zero. Nils once said: “Making and planning this tour reminds me of base jumping, with the nice addition that it probably wont fail fatal. Some close friends and my family thought I went nuts when I told them about the tour. They are possibly right. It feels like a good kind of crazy so far…”

1658652 10153069937226170 7969339833357721487 o

With only one string per note, the Una Corda was commissioned by Nils and built by David Klavinsin 2014 as a smaller, portable version of the 3.7 meter tall Klavins M370 on which his latest album Solo was recorded. The bespoke organ is the latest addition to Nils’s collection of rare instruments consisting of portable wind pipes, customly made of wood. The team around, who are mainly responsible for Nils´s visual artworks helped him to design a completely new midi interface which controls the organ and enables new sonic possibilities.

With so much old and fragile gear and temperamental prototypes on stage, Nils’s travel party now also includes his studio engineer Matthias H. Franz Hahn who will be on hand with his soldering iron, ready to fix up any instruments from the side of the stage.

The Brooklyn-based trio and latest Erased Tapes signing Dawn of Midi are also excited to join Nils on this European tour which starts on April 25th and includes key cites such as Berlin, Paris and two nights at London’s Roundhouse of which the first date is already sold out.

Dawn of Midi sign to Erased Tapes and announce worldwide release of 'Dysnomia'

New signing Dawn of Midi announce worldwide release of Dysnomia picture
With Dysnomia, the Brooklyn-based group Dawn of Midi made up of double bass player Aakaash Israni, pianist Amino Belyamani and drummer Qasim Naqvi abandon improvisation in favour of composition, utilising sophisticated rhythmic structures from North and West African folk traditions to weave a sonic tapestry of trance-inducing grooves. From close up one may see only dots, but when stepping back an undulating image reveals itself. “We didn’t want to create anything cerebral,” says Belyamani, “we wanted something visceral, something that would awaken our instinctive dance impulses.”

“We wanted to make a record that sounded both musically futuristic and sonically vintage,” explains Israni, “and since the album never saw a proper international release, it is very exciting to see what might happen when more people are exposed to it. And to be aligned with Erased Tapes, whose enthusiasm for the music they release has done a lot for exposing unique instrumental and electronic music, makes it that much more interesting.”

'Dysnomia' will be released on June 1 through Erased Tapes.

2015-01-12 Michael Price announces debut album 'Entanglement'

Michael Price announces debut album 'Entanglement'

“No click tracks, no headphones, and no film. Just the spontaneity of performance and the sound of musicians hearing, connecting and responding.”

‘Entanglement’, the debut album by
Michael Price fulfils his long-term desire to explore new musical territories, featuring Michael on the piano, with the addition of cello, soprano voice, string orchestra, modular synth, tape effects and electronics.

Throughout the record you will hear street sounds from 'Budapest' captured and processed on Michael’s mobile phone, as well as chamber music recorded direct to tape with vintage microphones in single takes. Album track ‘The Attachment’ was partly recorded onto a 1940s magnetic disc recorder, which immediately connected the piece back to a pre-digital musical age.

The cello and soprano vocal parts throughout the album were written specifically and directly for cellist Peter Gregson and vocalist Ashley Knight, whose expressive voice features on tracks ‘Maitri‘ and ‘The Uncertainly Principle‘. The lyrics for both songs are Japanese poetry sung in English, dealing with age, loss and the inevitable fading of beauty.

‘Entanglement’ was written over a period of two years on paper and by hand with Michael exploring oldest and newest technology at Abbey Road Studios and Snap Studios in London, before most of the recording and mixing took place at Vox-Ton in Berlin.

“I wanted to make an album that sounded like a dark, Berlin record store discovery from the 30s. Something that had timeless emotive power, and pre-digital rawness. Something that I hope would make a deeper connection in superficially networked times. I think there is a duty for artists to be honest, and vulnerable. Because then there is a possibility of real connection. Entanglement is both honest and vulnerable and to go through the two year process of writing, refining and recording an album has been more intense and more beautiful than I could have possibly imagined.” – Michael Price

'Entanglement' will be released via Erased Tapes on April 13, 2015.

2014-11-03 Lubomyr Melnyk returns with 'Evertina' EP

Lubomyr Melnyk returns with 'Evertina' EP

We first introduced Lubomyr Melnyk and his unique continuous music technique to a wider audience with 'Corollaries', an album produced by Peter Broderick in 2013. Now he returns with a 24-minute mini album entitled 'Evertina'. Featuring three newly composed solo piano pieces, the long-form EP showcases another side to Lubomyr Melnyk – his more gentle and melodic work.

In 2012 Lubomyr's ears began to notice the remarkable tonal depth of upright pianos. To Lubomyr the upright piano sound is like a natural forest of microcosmic colours. 'Evertina' and 'Awaiting' were created on a middle-aged upright piano at a friend's home in New York in October 2012 – just before Hurricane Sandy hit the city. Some children were listening to Lubomyr as he played in a hotel lobby in Cologne and 'Butterfly' is the piece that he made for them. It was recorded on a battered grand piano somewhere in Switzerland in late 2013, with the lid closed down to soften the effect. 'Evertina' will be available on 10" vinyl, CD and download from December 15th.

"These three pieces fit so nicely together in spirit, they present a tableau, a tiny triptych that can reach the world without waiting for a major work, they stand beautifully on their own, and do not need an album to surround them with comfort and padding. No, they are what they are, and a short musical interlude as this record gives, is just perfect for their nature." – Lubomyr Melnyk

Wayne McGregor, resident choreographer at the Royal Ballet, was one of these fans and chose to play the album repeatedly during practices with his core group of dancers. "If I knew I were alive, I could do so much better. If I knew what I had, then I could use it more wisely. If only I’d known before then I’d be in a better place already. If only."

London-based singer-songwriter
Douglas Dare releases new EP, following on from his debut album 'Whelm'. Named after album track 'Caroline' and new track 'If I Knew I Were Alive', it also features remixes by fellow label mate Ryan Lee West aka Rival Consoles and Houndstooth’s own electronic producer Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow.

"The recording has this demo quality which I really enjoy. I love how revealing a demo can be, it seems to expose the fundamental ideas the songwriter had and the basic quality of the recording is very revealing. One of my favourite records is PJ Harvey’s ‘4 Track Demos’ where the songs are so stripped back that you can appreciate the finest details." – Douglas Dare

'Caroline/If Only' will be released on a Limited Edition 10” Vinyl and Download via Erased Tapes on September 22, 2014 and can be pre ordered from here.

Nils Frahm reveals 'Re' Video & custom piano 'Una Corda' picture
Nils Frahm is known to many as a producer and piano player but now he has teamed up with David Klavins to specially design and create a custom piano.

David is the creator of the M 370 - the tallest piano in the world, aka 'The Giant' which was turned into a virtual instrument and sample library by Berlin-based Native Instruments.

David alongside Nils will give a special presentation at Michelberger Hotel on June 10th, where they will unveil their new piano, which they have named UNA CORDA.

"I want people to touch it. I want people to see it. I want people to ask questions. I want people just to think about the idea of instruments and see how important instruments are to musicians, and how much they change their music. I think instrument builders play one of the biggest roles in the music industry. I’m really aware that people who create instruments for musicians are as important as the musicians. Why should I be the star? The person who builds the instrument should be a star as well." — Nils Frahm in his interview with Electronic Beats

Nils also releases the official animated music video for track ‘Re’ from his 2012 album ‘Screws’. Inspired by the recordings Nils made while recovering from an injury to his thumb, director Balazs Simon created this wonderful music video, which received a Vimeo Staff Pick and Noisey called 'an animated slow motion dream’.

"When I first heard Nils' new album 'Screws' I instantly fell in love with it - not only because of the music, but also because of it's backstory. Listening to 'Re' planted a story and a world in my head, so I decided to create a music video for it." – Balázs Simon

Greg Gives Peter Space reveal cover art

Peter Broderick and Greg Haines reveal the spacey cover artwork for their new project Greg Gives Peter Space with a video teaser for album track 'A Clear View'.

Berlin-based illustrator and professor Henning Wagenbreth uses a variety of techniques such as linocut, vector drawings, pen and ink, geometric shapes and distorted perspectives to make his images more abstracted yet easily legible.

'Greg and I were having a lot of fun looking at old dub records with 'spacey' covers, such as Prince Jammy Destroys The Invaders, imagining that maybe we could join the 'outer space album cover club' one day. We tried several artists before finally asking Henning Wagenbreth to take a crack at the artwork . . . and boy are we glad we asked him! He took our spacey idea and sent it to another galaxy in his unique style. Hurrah!' – Peter Broderick

Peter and Greg will bring their studio on the road with them for a series of special release shows:

2014-04-14 Greg Gives Peter Space – a collaborative work by Peter Broderick and Greg Haines

Greg Gives Peter Space – a collaborative work by Peter Broderick and Greg Haines

Greg Gives Peter Space picture
The long overdue first collaborative work by Peter Broderick and Greg Haines – "are you ready for this?"

“Greg and I became good friends while both living in Berlin, around 2009 to 2013. We spent countless late nights playing records for each other, dreaming the dream of good music. We talked a lot about collaborating and even put in quite a few hours at each other's studios . . . but for some strange reason we never seemed to finish anything. Maybe we were just busy enough with our other projects and didn't feel in any rush. But we certainly had it in mind that we'd like to finish something one day. And we are very proud to say that day is finally here!

Primarily inspired by mine and Greg's recent obsession with dub music, Greg Gives Peter Space is a mini album comprised of six tracks filled with – you guessed it – spacey sounds, created with the help of Greg's ever-growing collection of synthesizers,  tape delays and reel-to-reel machines. In the true spirit of dub music, many of the mixes were made live, both of us hovering over the mixing board, dancing around and following our intuitions, processing the sounds with live effects while the music bounced down to tape., We are extremely excited to release this record in the summer time and to celebrate with a few select shows around Europe. We've enlisted our dear friend Martyn Heyne to help us perform the music live, and we plan on bringing as much of the original gear from the recordings as possible. After years of playing fairly quiet music for an often seated audience, we can't wait to get on stage and bounce around to some groovy rhythms,  heavy bass and spacey synthesizers. Prepare for take-off! “ – Peter Broderick,  April 2014

Greg Gives Peter Space will be released on Vinyl and Download via Erased Tapes on June 16, 2014.

Douglas Dare announces debut album Whelm picture
London-based singer-songwriter Douglas Dare releases his debut album Whelm on Erased Tapes. With the piano at the core, Dare vocalises his short prose and poems to a backdrop of drums, electronics and brass…

'I wanted to make a record that would allow the listener to escape, something lush and immersive but when looked at closely, the grit and depth could be found. I didn’t write the record with a concept in mind but when thinking of titles I found this through-line; I realised the restless nature of humans and the erratic emotions I’d written about could be linked to water and more specifically the sea. I grew up in the coastal town of Bridport, Dorset; the sea was this constant thing in my life. And although I felt an affinity with it, I couldn’t swim until I was a teenager. This equal measure of joy and uncertainty I found in both people and water brought me to Whelm; it feels like a fitting title. To be engulfed. To be buried. To be whelmed.'

Whelm will be released on CD, Vinyl and Download incl. lyric book 'Nine Poems' via Erased Tapes on May 12, 2014.

Pre-order it here or digitally via iTunes.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen return with ATOMOS VII picture
As announced by Pitchfork, April 28 will see the return of A Winged Victory For The Sullen with the release of 'ATOMOS VII'. It forms the first installment leading up to the release of the second studio album 'ATOMOS', and score for choreographer Wayne McGregor's long form dance piece. This EP also sees the involvement of Ben Frost, who composed the music for McGregor’s previous work 'Far'.

'Atomos VII' will be released on 12"/DL and can be pre-ordered here.

'While we were re-amping guitars at Greenhouse studios, Ben expressed interest and admiration in the sounds we had created. We were planning for the B-side to be a metamorphosis of part VII, and Ben seemed the obvious choice. With the multi-tracks transformed, it follows a trajectory that we had not felt comfortable with before. But with Ben's involvement and influence, it was a painless entrance to this crooked, distorted world.’ – Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie

‘We never imagined 2013 would be such an explosively creative year. The first record took us two years from start to finish, but in the micro span of time over last summer we were able to change the formula for the way we write, record, and let go. It was incredibly liberating.’ – Dustin O'Halloran

Nils Frahm 'Spaces' Tour & 'Says' Video

After releasing his critically acclaimed new album 'Spaces' with an exclusive release concert in New York, Nils Frahm announces his European & North American tour with a brand new video.

The official music video for album track Says was created by visual artists Romain Assénat and Ana Silva. Romain previously submitted a 'typewriter symphony' for Nils's Screws Reworked online project.

'Listening to 'Says', we wanted to create a visual space fitting with the repeating form and the kind of echo present in this piece. We had the visual idea during a show of Nils in Germany, two days after, we've created a device for capturing this idea: a video-feedback with ink on glass captured in one take, in a very analogue way and without any post-production', he explains.

FLOAT 2013 for Cassette Store Day picture
We're extremely excited to announce our very first cassette tape release in celebration of Cassette Store Day 2013!

A super limited edition of 100 purple cassettes in bespoke packaging carry Peter Broderick's 2008 debut album remastered by the gifted hands of Nils Frahm:

'What Nils did to the sound, how he worked his magic as he always does, filled me with the conviction that this project had not previously reached its potential. In so many ways I've found myself coming around the circle, back to the place I started, only perhaps the circle itself has moved. But the dream is the same. And my little baby has a new pair of shoes: Float 2013.'

This classic album will be reissued in multiple formats later on this year - more details to be revealed soon. For the time being it will be exclusively available on cassette tape from September 7th including a download code with 2 exclusive bonus tracks that gets activated on the official reissue release date in the fall.

You can check the list of participating record stores from around the world here and follow CSD on FB and Twitter.

Peter and Nils will also be performing one of their rare Oliveray live sets at this year's Decibel Festival for which you're dearly invited.

Erased Tapes Collection V: 5th Anniversary Box Set

Erased Tapes Collection V: 5th Anniversary Box Set picture
Today marks the release of our 5th anniversary box set entitled Erased Tapes Collection V, a collection of five seven-inch records carrying ten exclusive songs recorded by Erased Tapes artists in celebration of our label's fifth birthday. It comes in a strictly limited edition of five hundred copies worldwide and is available from our online store and selected record stores including Rough Trade, Phonica, Spillers, Boomkat, Norman and Piccadilly Records.

Designed by Torsten Posselt at FELD Berlin, the Erased Tapes Collection V comes in a deluxe, hand-assembled outer box, emblazoned with a detailed debossing of the mountain-shaped logo. The black box opens at an angle and reveals five screen-printed inner sleeves carrying five dinged 7" records, plus a hand-numbered sixth inner. The additional sleeve contains a mountain-shaped record centrepiece, an anti-static cleaning cloth and has a unique code imprinted on the back. The code enables its rightful owner to download a digital edition of this release from the 24th of December 2013. Until then this exclusive collection shall be enjoyed on vinyl only.

"When you look closely at the debossing on the front of the box, you will recognise the time and pressure lines of the seismographic disc on which the original mountain was drawn back in 2007, embodying the constancy and timelessness of the music. I very much like the idea that this collection is limited to a certain amount of copies. And if you own it, you're one of only a few people out there that can give these ten exclusive songs a spin. There's something beautiful to limitation and restraint that resonates with the whole idea of Erased Tapes." – Robert Raths, label founder

McGregor is Royal Ballet resident director, but is best known to many in the music world for his work with Radiohead on their 'Lotus Flower' video, and most recently for the new Atoms For Peace video 'Ingenue'. After a year of playing A Winged Victory For The Sullen’s self-titled album during dance practice, the Royal Ballet resident director contacted Adam Wiltzie and Dustin O’Hallaran to provide the score to his new sixty-minute full-length work Atomos.

'The nature of this project has invariably guided our compositions into a strange world we did not create. We are really testing the ability to leave vanity, and the safety of our whole notes in the closet. It seems quite fitting that our next musical output is also our first foray into dance with this lovely human being, from that island across the pond, Wayne Mcgregor. We continue into the unknown.'

Luke Abbott & Clark rework Nils's 'Juno'

Luke Abbott & Clark Rework Juno picture
After releasing Nils Frahm's two-track solo synthesiser Juno EP in a highly sought after 7” edition, we will now re-release the original Juno tracks with guest reworks by Border Community's modular synth wizard Luke Abbott and Warp veteran Clark. Both known for their like-minded use of analogue synthesisers in their music, it makes them the perfect artists to rework the originals.

Similar to Nils’s online project Screws Reworked Project, where he invited fans to download his solo piano songs to reinterpret them with their own medium of choice, it’s far from being the typical remix EP. Aptly titled Juno Reworked, it will be released worldwide in the form of a limited 12" Vinyl and Download on July 15th.

Brand New Peter Broderick Music Video

We're excited to reveal the official music video for 'Proposed Solution To The Mystery Of The Soul'from
Peter Broderick's new album 'These Walls of Mine', created by Bernhard Wittich, a London based cinematographer known for his video of Andrew Bird's 'Give It Away' .

'The main idea was to portrait a man who is trying to communicate with his soul through this sign he is setting up. The camera should feel like his soul 'dancing' around him while he is trying to get some answers he can't solve by himself . Although he can't see his soul he certainly feels it at the end, because it was always there'

Lubomyr Melnyk Album Details Revealed

April 15, 2013 will see Ukrainian pianist
Lubomyr Melnyk – the pioneer of 'Continuous Piano Music' – with his first release on Erased Tapes. Entitled Corollaries, the album was recorded and produced by Peter Broderick with the additional help of Nils Frahm and Martyn Heyne. We knew it was time to share the great musical legacy of Melnyk, to which he simply responded: ‘Where were you guys when I was thirty?’

The album artwork was created by American contemporary artist Gregory Euclide, known for his cover art for Bon Iver’s self-titled album. Euclide was listening to early mixes of the recordings on repeat whilst painting the two visual counterparts contained in the record, describing his interpretation of Corollaries as 'a continuous cycle of growth and decay'.

Track listing: 1. Pockets Of Light 2. The Six Day Moment 3. A Warmer Place 4. Nightrail From The Sun 5. Le Miroir D'Amour

2012-12-21 Nils Frahm - Screws Reworked Project

Nils Frahm - Screws Reworked Project

Screws' was the result of inspiration from fans and friends whilst Nils Frahm recovered from an unfortunate thumb injury. Nils offered his fans nine recordings to download and in return you started to send him your remixes, reworks, audio and visual reinterpretations. This gave birth to the 'Screws Reworked' project.

You can now showcase your personal rework on this special dedicated website by submitting either images, videos or audio files and share them with the world. You can also view/comment on other artists & friends' reworks and share them too.

Enjoy and thank you all for listening! With lots of love, Nils & Team Erased Tapes

p.s. Nils also made a little Xmas mixtape for you. Have a listen.

Nils Frahm / Ghostpoet / Hyelim Kim BBC Radio 3 Late Junction Session picture
When the BBC Radio 3 team got in touch and introduced us to the concept behind their Late Junction Sessions, which was to bring together artists from different genres who had never met before to jam for a whole day at the Maida Vale Studios in London, we knew it was a perfect fit for Berlin-based pianist and producer Nils Frahm.

From that starting point onwards UK singer, producer and 2011's Mercury Prize nominee Ghostpoet and Taegŭm performer, composer and researcher Hyelim Kim were added to the bill and so the stage was set for three very different artists to come together and create something truly musical and unique.

The session will go live on BBC Radio 3 (90-93 FM) today 20th December at 11pm GMT. Fans can tune in and view further images online here.

The trailer video was directed & shot by Steve Glashier, known for his music videos for artists such as Bonobo and Fatboy Slim.

2012-12-10 Peter Broderick - Making of These Walls Of Mine

Peter Broderick - Making of These Walls Of Mine

We're very excited to reveal brand new behind the scenes footage that showcases Peter Broderick's personal involvement in the packaging of his new album 'These Walls Mine'.

With the help of designer Torsten Posselt at Feld and Robert Raths of Erased Tapes, Peter created a collectable special edition for his fans. In the early morning hours the three pay a local printing house in Berlin a visit as they print the hand-stitched booklets and assemble the delicate orange special edition boxes.

The video was filmed and edited by Alexander Schneider – also responsible for the one-take live studio video of 'I've Tried' – and contains shots of all the machinery involved in the CD and Vinyl production, which combined with Peter's spoken words on 'These Walls Of Mine I' almost get a human feel.

The results were unexpected. I was rather pleased with some and I wanted to share them with you." - Michael Zoidis, director

Michael Price joins Erased Tapes picture
Let's give English composer Michael Price a warm welcome!

Recorded at Phoenix Sound inside the world-famous Pinewood Studios – home of the British film industry and a location chosen by Michael as 'a haven for me in a noisy world' – December 17th marks his debut release as the latest addition to the Erased Tapes family in the form of 'A Stillness'; a four-track limited edition vinyl including music sheets and downloads.

Renowned for his work as film composer, producer and award-winning music editor, this small collection of songs shows a more personal side of Price, a chance for him to create music without any scripts and guidelines.

“When I heard what we had, there was only one collection of musicians and artists that felt a natural fit, and that was Erased Tapes. I'd always admired Robert's artistic vision, and the way that he created a nurturing, collaborative environment around the artists he worked with. It's a privilege to be even a small part of that.” – Michael Price

2012-09-20 Nils Frahm's Birthday Gift: Screws

Nils Frahm's Birthday Gift: Screws

September 20th marks the 30th birthday of Berlin pianist Nils Frahm, but also the day he has chosen to give his fans a special gift in the form of 9 songs he recorded with 9 fingers, entitled Screws.

Nils experienced an unfortunate accident which saw him fall from his bunk bed located directly above his studio, which resulted in a broken thumb. But through inspiration from his fans and after a gentle walk and talk through the park with a close friend, he decided to deal with the situation in the only way he knew – playing his piano.

With four screws surgically placed inside his thumb, he started recording with his remaining 9 fingers, what later resulted in 9 intimate piano recordings.

Fans can download the full mini album Screws as mp3s or in full 24-bit 44.100 kHz audio quality and pre-order a Vinyl/CD edition from our store, which will be released officially on December 3.

A Winged Victory – First Official Music Video

Today Drowned In Sound premiered the first official music video for A Winged Victory For The Sullen ahead of their dates on the Erased Tapes 5th Anniversary tour.

Directed by Christopher Hewitt at Knucklehead, the clip is a wonderful poetic visualisation of 'Requiem For The Static King Part One' and has been selected by Vimeo as their Staff Pick.

“We started investigating video ideas with many different directors as early as April 2011, to no avail, except for blowing currency on apocryphal hopes. Mr. Hewitt delivered us a storyboard idea around the first week of October last year, and it was well worth the wait. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by people like him, and the team at Knucklehead Films. In the end we have inspired each other, and I can only hope we will work together again before I check out of this place….” – Adam Wiltzie

2012-07-09 Peter Broderick announces New Album

Peter Broderick announces New Album

October 22, 2012 will see Peter Broderick release his brand new studio album on Erased Tapes, entitled 'These Walls Of Mine'. Held together by a dialogue of voices, it reveals Peter’s innermost thoughts in an intimate yet playful way. An exploration from gospel and soul to spoken word, beatboxing and rap – this is Peter at his most natural.

“I had recently been experimenting at home with a microphone and a laptop, recording and uploading new songs for free online, each one alongside a photo and some words, and open to comments from the outside world. And in the end Robert got behind all the songs, which gave me the courage to finish the music for this release.

These songs are best viewed as a collection of lyrical and vocal experiments. Of course the instruments and the music are important, but this album is held together by a dialogue of voices. Conversations with myself and with others. Several tracks contain lyrical contributions from friends and strangers, made possible with the help of the internet. And then I sang and sang and sang. I love singing. And I love cats.” – Peter Broderick

So on the next tour, starting on the 21st of May until the 31st of May I will bring my studio on tour and record all my shows. That sounds like a lot of fun... maybe you want to see what we're doing, what we come up with... Oh, do you want to know why I love recording so much? Let me show you something...'
